A QUICK CATCH UP WITH PRINCIPAL SINGER NEIL BYRNE

We caught up with Neil Byrne to see how his year is going and just asked a few questions to see what has he been up to and if his getting excited about the cruise and the 2017 Symphony Tour.

1. WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING SO FAR, THIS YEAR?

Over the last few months I've been at home which always allows me to write and record music in my own studio. I've also been spending a lot of my time rehearsing and recording new music for Celtic Thunder's latest album. I'm very excited to hear the final mixes very soon.

2. ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO THE CELTIC THUNDER CRUISE IN NOVEMBER AND THEN STRAIGHT INTO THE SYMPHONY 2017 US TOUR?

Being on tour is one of favorite things to do for many reasons. I love the people that are around me. It's always a challenge to provide the very best on stage which keeps you focused and it's always nice to meet new people on tour.

The cruise is a different animal, it's a huge CT party full of events, music, comedy, great food and people smiling having the time of their lives.

"No more lonely nights"!

3. WHEN DID YOU KNOW, THIS IS WHAT YOU WANTED TO DO, TO BE A PEFORMER?

I wanted to be a professional guitar player since I was a kid. I started singing a little later and that opened up a new world to me. So, I can safely say that I never wanted anything other than to be a musician.

My father did say to me after I got a below par report from school "if you don't listen in school you will be singing for your money" and he was right! Dad and Mam always loved my passion for music but wanted me to have an education also. "Wise and loving parents".

4. HAVE YOU ANY HOLIDAYS PLANNED?

I will be taking a few days off in July. I will be in Boston at the end of our Byrne & Kelly tour. I love Boston, it's a beautiful and vibrant city. Can't wait.

5. WHEN YOU'RE ON TOUR, WHAT DO YOU MISS MOST FROM HOME?

I miss my family when on tour. That was always the hardest thing to get used to. I am blessed with a wonderful family and each and every time I return home I find it more precious. We are not going to be around forever so time with family and friends is very valuable. Absence has thought me more of the importance of this.

Having said that I am really lucky to be a part of a touring party that are next to none. "amazingly caring people" that I look upon as an extended family.

6. HAVE YOU ANYTHING THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO SAY TO THE CELTIC THUNDER FANS?

I could never emphasize how amazingly supportive the fans have been throughout the years. It's not only turning up to our shows. It's the personal stories I have received whether it be from my website or a hand-written letter about how our music has fulfilled their lives. Getting someone through a hard time is another positive angle music can bring. When I learn of these examples it gives me more purpose to continue what I do and helps me with any issues or crosses to bear I might have myself. So, I could not thank the fans enough. Wonderful people that I have learned so much from.

Thank you.
