FESTIVALS IN WEXFORD

Summer is a wonderful time in Wexford, the streets, beaches and countryside are alive with activity.  Wexford is famous for its produce (especially strawberries and new potatoes, yum yum), hospitality, beautiful countryside and beaches.  The county comes alive with festivals during the Summer months and it makes the most of its famous ‘best weather’ in the country.  It’s called the Sunny South East! We have put together some festival highlights for the county over the year.

ART IN THE OPEN 2017 FESTIVAL

Dates - Jul 30 2017 - Aug 07 2017

Take a deep breath of plein air at this painting festival based in Wexford town. Open to all artists, it features paint-outs, workshops, life drawing, lectures, social events and an exhibition of work produced.

‘Art In The Open’ is a plein air, or outdoor, painting festival based in Wexford but travelling to different locations during the week. Artists worldwide register online and are entitled to submit work produced to an exhibition, where all paintings are for sale and can be considered for awards, so if you're talented with a brush, why not get involved?

Once registered, you'll be entitled to attend free lectures and social events. Workshops and demonstrations with leading international plein air artists can also be booked and paid for in advance. For a small fee, you can also practice life drawing on two evenings.

Every year a Quick-Draw event is held in Wexford town with entry fees being donated to charity. Compete to win prizes sponsored by local businesses, or sell your work right off the easel. At the end of the festival, celebrate and enjoy socializing together at a sit-down meal.

The exhibition usually runs for two days, so get down to Wexford this summer to flex your creative muscle.
