I first met Brian Leyden in 2008 when I was involved with a show called “The Good Room”.  It was based on the concept that every house in Ireland had a “good room” where important people were invited in to have a cup of tea but unless you were special, the room was never used! It was kept for special occasions.

Brian was MC for The Good Room and I first got my hands on a beautiful book of his called, The Home Place.  I read and I love to read and I read all sorts of books from fiction to political personal development.  You name it and I’ve read the book about it.  I live in Dublin and I’m from Co Kilkenny where my ‘home place’ is, so I’m very familiar with rural Ireland. What took me by surprise the moment I read the Home Place, was how I could relate to the book and how Brian wrote with such beauty and compassion about The Home Place.  It made me cry, it made me laugh, and while I was reading I could see the roads, the house, the people in my imagination and that to me sums up what a book is about.

I’m telling you this story because I think this book should be read outside of Ireland and I give my 5 out of 5 to it.  I persuaded Declan to stock and sell The Home Place on the store.  I hope if any of you read this book that you will love it as much as I did.  I think you will.
